Graeme Ross has compiled his choice of Marilyn’s Top 10 movie performances for The Independent, headed up by Some Like It Hot, The Misfits and Gentlemen Prefer Blondes. (I concur for the most part, although personally, I would pick either Clash By Night or River of No Return over Monkey Business.)

As with many Monroe films, the actor’s insecurities and personal problems led to a troubled production, but The Misfits presented the opportunity she craved to be taken seriously as an actor, and she duly gave one of her finest performances.
