‘The Misfits’ at Film Forum NYC

The Misfits will be screened at Film Forum NYC this month, as part of a two-week retrospective for Marilyn’s friend and co-star, the great Montgomery Clift. Among the sixteen showcased movies are three more with connections to Marilyn: Lonelyhearts (1958), which Monty filmed at Goldwyn Studios while Marilyn was shooting Some Like It Hot (he even visited her on the set); Wild River (1960), first offered to Marilyn by Fox, before director Elia Kazan chose Lee Remick as Clift’s leading lady; and John Huston’s Misfits follow-up, Freud (1962), which Marilyn declined on the advice of her psychiatrist, Dr. Ralph Greenson. The 2018 documentary, Making Montgomery Clift, is also featured.
