Remembering Marilyn on Australian TV

Marilyn in The Prince and the Showgirl (1957)

Australian TV network SBS joins the UK and France in commemorating the 60th anniversary of Marilyn’s passing this week, with a screening of The Prince and the Showgirl on the SBS Viceland channel this Wednesday, August 3, at 9:35 pm. And on Thursday, August 4, SBS will screen Marilyn: Her Final Secret, a recent documentary revealing the true identity of her long-lost father.

Additionally, two other new documentaries are now available on demand. Becoming Marilyn offers a feminist perspective on her career. And Death of An Icon: Marilyn Monroe dips into the murky terrain of conspiracy theories, focusing on ‘Box 39,’ the collected files of Marilyn’s last psychiatrist Dr. Ralph Greenson, now held at UCLA and closed to the public until 2039 at the Greenson family’s request. (However, there’s little mystery to unravel here as Greenson’s papers have already accessed by several prior biographers, including Anthony Summers and Donald Spoto.)
