70 Years Later: Celebrating Marilyn’s ‘Millionaire’ Premiere

The world premiere of How to Marry a Millionaire (1953) at the Fox Wilshire Theatre in Beverly Hills was one of the most glittering events in Marilyn’s career. On November 4th, the same venue – now known as the Saban Theatre – will celebrate this historic moment with another screening of this classic romantic comedy, retracing Marilyn’s own footsteps exactly 70 years later.

Tickets start at $35 but the Marilyn Remembered fan club is offering $10 off the purchase of tickets of any price when entering the code MMR53

“Not only was it a star studded premiere – with attendees including Monroe, Bacall, Bogart, and DeMille not to mention Debbie Reynolds, Mitzi Gaynor, Rock Hudson, Shelley Winters and more – but How to Marry a Millionaire was only the second film to premiere in the new technology, Cinemascope.

To honor the occasion, we are throwing a party! The red carpet event will open doors at 5:30pm for all the pre-show festivities including hosting a book signing with author and historian Elisa Jordan with advance copies of Hello, Norma Jeane: The Marilyn Monroe You Didn’t Know, cocktails with light food and more. The Marilyn Monroe Collection has generously offered to showcase archival items from the film and their personal collection!

The film will be followed by a panel conversation with special guests.”

UPDATE: Unfortunately, this event has been postponed.
