Marilyn filmed several ‘bathroom scenes’ during her career – she’s seen emerging from the shower in Love Nest and Niagara, and then of course, there’s that midnight swim in Something’s Got to Give.
But it’s her two Billy Wilder comedies that put her on a list of ‘Seven Scenes … in a Bathtub’ in the March issue of UK nostalgia mag Yours Retro (#72, with Doris Day on the cover.) In The Seven Year Itch (1955), Marilyn calls a plumber after getting her toe stuck in the tap. And in Some Like It Hot (1959) it’s Tony Curtis who makes a splash, with Marilyn and Jack Lemmon looking on.

Reader Susan Plumb ranks Some Like It Hot second only to Gone With the Wind among her seven favourite movies…

And on the letters page, John Rutherford remembers Don Murray, Marilyn’s leading man in Bus Stop.

Several more of Marilyn’s co-stars are also featured in this month’s Yours Retro, including George Sanders, Jane Russell, plus William Powell and his lost love Jean Harlow.
