Marilyn Vs. Olivier … Behind the Scenes

Marilyn graces the cover of Scenes magazine’s April issue (available in print or via Kindle), with a ten-page feature on the making of The Prince and the Showgirl inside. Despite its troubled production, the film boasts one of Marilyn’s best performances.

The article, by Chris Wade, is illustrated with images from the movie – shot in England in 1956, and the only film co-produced by Marilyn’s own company – plus photos taken during Laurence Olivier’s visit to New York when their collaboration was first announced.

Chaos erupted during a press conference at the Plaza Hotel, when Marilyn’s dress strap snapped accidentally – or so she claimed, though some thought otherwise … and alas, this was the last time the two stars got along.

Chris is also the author of a book and documentary about Marilyn, who was last featured in Scenes magazine back in 2020.
