Celebrate Marilyn’s Birthday at the Hollywood Heritage Museum

The city of Los Angeles is going all out to celebrate Marilyn’s 98th birthday next Saturday, June 1st. From 11 am – 3 pm, the Marilyn Remembered fan club is hosting a special event at the Hollywood Heritage Museum on Highlands Avenue, including a one-off display with items of Marilyn’s own personal property and memorabilia.

The museum is located on the site of Hollywood’s oldest surviving studio, formerly a barn converted by legendary filmmaker Cecil B. DeMille and producer Jesse Lasky (founder of Paramount Pictures) in 1913. Hollywood Heritage also supports the ongoing campaign to save Marilyn’s final home in Los Angeles from demolition (see here.)

Admission to this event costs $14 for non-members, who are also welcome to visit the museum’s current exhibition marking 100 years of MGM. And if you’d like to continue celebrating Marilyn’s birthday in her hometown, check out the plans for Saturday night at the Orpheum Theatre and the Hollywood Roosevelt Hotel.
