The celebrations for Marilyn’s 98th birthday tomorrow will continue through Sunday, June 2, with Some Like It Hot showing at the Savor Cinema in Fort Lauderdale, Florida. Tickets cost $25, with proceeds donated to Pink Angels, a breast cancer charity. (A second screening has been cancelled due to unforeseen events.)
Doors open at 2 pm for a celebratory reception, with the film starting at 3 pm. The programme includes a documentary short, My Day With Marilyn, retelling the story of Sam Heller, a 17-year-old waiter who fell into a police sidecar and found himself inches away photographing Marilyn at the 1952 Miss America Parade in Atlantic City.
And finally, Sam and his filmmaker daughter Stephanie Heller will give a talk after the screening.
