Marilyn’s Subway Scene (and More) at Heritage Auctions

These three photos of Marilyn’s ‘subway scene’ from The Seven Year Itch were taken not on location in New York, but during retakes back in Hollywood. On sale separately as part of the Entertainment Photographs event at Heritage Auctions (ending this Sunday, June 23), all three images are credited to Cliff Wesselman.

SOLD for (l-r) $1,625; $1,125; and $1,625

Another of Wesselman’s photos shows Marilyn on an interior set. Her skimpy costume was later replaced with a more stylish pink blouse and matador pants.

SOLD for $1,031.25

The auction also includes three photos by Andre de Dienes; a candid shot by John Bryson shows Marilyn leaving the Fox studio lot during filming of Let’s Make Love; and a glamorous image by Bill Ray, from the night when Marilyn sang ‘Happy Birthday Mr President’ at Madison Square Garden.
