Marilyn Brings ‘Noirvember’ to Weston-super-Mare

Don’t Bother to Knock is showing at the Plaza Cinema in Weston-super-Mare on Sunday, 3 November at 12:20 pm, as part of the Dangerous Divas strand in this year’s Film Noir Fest. Although full passes are now sold out, you can still book tickets individually for £5 each – but hurry!

“Starring Richard Widmark and (in her first starring role) Marilyn Monroe, Don’t Bother to Knock (1952) is a frightening and provocative tale about the exploration of a murderer’s mind all within one night.

While baby-sitting in a New York hotel, a beautiful woman (Monroe) begins a flirtation with one of the hotel’s guests (Widmark). Rebounding from a breakup with his girlfriend (Anne Bancroft, in her screen debut), he’s willingly seduced by the baby-sitter … with deadly consequences.

Shot by the great Lucien Ballard (Murder by Contract, The Killing, Night Without Sleep) and directed by British born Roy Ward Baker (A Night to Remember, Flame in the Streets) get ready for one of most incredible acting roles ever produced by the star that would become Marilyn Monroe.”
