Some Like It Hot (or as it’s known in Denmark, Nobody’s Perfect) is showing at the Danish Film Institute in Copenhagen on Wednesday, December 17, from 5:00 pm until 8:00 pm – with dinner and cocktails also on the menu…
“Hollywood’s great comedy director and connoisseur of humanity Billy Wilder masterfully orchestrates the extensive plot in Nobody’s Perfect and mixes satire, parody and refined comedy into a gem of a film that shines more and more with the passage of time.
Two unemployed musicians – Joe (Tony Curtis) and Jerry (Jack Lemmon) – accidentally witness a gangland showdown and have to change identities and flee wild Chicago. They take a job in Sweet Sue’s all-female band, and so it’s as Daphne and Josephine that they board a train to Florida. By the time our heroes arrive at their destination, both have lost their hearts to the band’s lead singer Sugar Kane (Marilyn Monroe) and been swept into a screwball tale from the underworld. The final line – which is also the film’s Danish title – has long since passed into history.”
The December event offers a delicious winter menu:
- COCKTAIL: Manhattan
- SMALL COURSE: Fish chowder soup, artichoke cream with crispy salami, old-fashioned ripened herring with gooseberries
- DESSERT: Whipped brie with pickled figs and cracker
