Marilyn Goes From ‘Hot’ to Blonde in California

Not just one, but two of Marilyn’s greatest movies are showing in and around her California hometown this weekend. Firstly, Some Like It Hot is screening at the Eagle Theatre on Eagle Rock Boulevard in Los Angeles today at 4:00 pm (PST.) The Eagle, which first opened in 1929, is now part of the Vidiots Foundation.

“Join the fun with Billy Wilder’s audacious and raucous comedy classic! Two musicians witness a mob hit and struggle to find a way out of the city before they are found by the gangsters. Their only opportunity is to join an all-girl band as they leave on a tour. To make their getaway they must first disguise themselves as women, then keep their identities secret and deal with the problems this brings – such as an attractive bandmate and a very determined suitor. Effervescent, delightful, and rolling on the floor funny, this is one comedy that never drags!”

A little further afield, Gentlemen Prefer Blondes is showing at the Bay Theatre in Seal Beach, Orange County tomorrow, February 1, at 4:30 pm. And while you’re there, make a note in your diary; Some Like It Hot is coming to the Bay on March 1st.
