Actress Sydney Sweeney (Euphoria, The Housemaid) paid homage to one of Marilyn’s most iconic looks at the SBIFF Virtuoso Awards in Santa Barbara, California this week, wearing an ivory ruched silk cocktail dress recalling Marilyn’s photo shoot with Philippe Halsman for her first LIFE cover story in March 1952.
However, while several media outlets (including the New York Post) have stated that Sydney wore the original garment, it is in fact a ‘nearly identical’ dress by one of Marilyn’s favourite designers, Ceil Chapman, which celebrity stylist Molly Dickson sourced from Timeless Vixen, a vintage boutique in Beverly Hills.
And as a finishing touch, Sydney also sported slingback pumps by Ferragamo, Marilyn’s favourite shoemaker.
