Marilyn Brings Back the Bathrobe

With many of us still facing restrictions, comfort is now a fashion priority. For a touch of glamour, Vogue suggests a hotel bathrobe – citing these photos of Marilyn at New York’s Ambassador Hotel, taken by Ed Feingersh in 1955. While she sometimes wore silky pegnoirs for photo shoots, the humble terrycloth robe later became a Monroe wardrobe staple onscreen and off, usually in white – though she would switch to blue for Something’s Got to Give.
