The last week of January 1961 was a busy time for Marilyn. While American eyes were on the inauguration of President John F. Kennedy, she flew to Juarez, Mexico with lawyer Aaron Frosch and publicist Pat Newcomb on January 24, to obtain her divorce from Arthur Miller. After returning to New York, she attended a sneak preview of The Misfits with co-star Montgomery Clift at the Capitol Theatre on Broadway. So soon after the death of leading man Clark Gable, this premiere – which would also be Marilyn’s last – was a muted affair, and she wore black to mark the occasion. Both events are covered in the latest edition of the French e-zine, Crazy for You.
