Marilyn, Korea and the USO

This photo of Marilyn singing for US soldiers in Korea in 1954 illustrates a new Saturday Evening Post article about the United Services Organisation (USO.) Strictly speaking, Marilyn’s visit wasn’t connected to the USO as she arranged it directly with army officers. However, it is commonly referred to as a USO tour and she certainly deserves a place in the history of entertaining the troops. The USO was founded in 1941, just months before America entered World War II, and continues its work to this day.
