Léa Seydoux Channels Kirkland’s Marilyn Shoot

French actress Léa Seydoux (Inglorious Basterds, Blue is the Warmest Colour, Spectre) stars in a new promotional campaign for the classic Louis Vuitton handbag, inspired by Douglas Kirkland’s classic images of Marilyn ‘between the sheets’ for Look magazine from 1961, Vogue reports. (Incidentally, photographer Steven Meisel previously captured Madonna in a Kirkland-style pose as part of a Monroe-themed Vanity Fair shoot in 1991.)

Léa recently channelled Marilyn on one of three very different covers for French Vogue‘s December 2020 issue, with photographer Emmanuelle Alt drawing upon elements of both the Kirkland session, and Bert Stern’s later bedside nudes.
