J.C. Penney Launches Marilyn-Inspired Fashion Line

American retail chain J.C. Penney has launched a 12-piece collection in partnership with Marilyn’s estate, WWD reports.

“Launched Thursday at 300 J.C. Penney’s stores and on jcp.com, the capsule collection offers capri pants, shirtings, full-skirted sundresses cinched at the waist; a color palette of black, white, coral and navy blue; classic stripes and floral patterns, and an inclusive range of sizes from XS to 3X.”

Although they don’t scream ‘Marilyn’ to me, these items are loosely inspired by off-duty favourites like the blue sundress she wore for photographer Sam Shaw in 1957.

And finally, an item that can be directly linked to Marilyn is the Keds sneakers she wore in Clash By Night. A special edition of Keds with Monroesque design details that will be sold at Penney’s in late May.
