A selection of prints from photographer Andre de Dienes – from his travels in rural California with a brunette Norma Jeane, to a conceptual series with a newly blonde Marilyn on Malibu Beach – will go under the hammer as part of the Hollywood & Entertainment Signature event at Heritage Auctions next Saturday, July 23. Also on offer is a 1954 nude calendar; costume sketches for We’re Not Married!; Marilyn’s fishnet tights from Bus Stop; and a ‘pool scene’ shot from Something’s Got to Give, credited to William Read Woodfield, one of only two photographers present (he later sold the rights to Lawrence Schiller.)
UPDATE: With a final bid of $4,500, this sombre 1946 photo taken by Andre De Dienes at Malibu Beach (entitled ‘Premonition’) was the top seller among the Marilyn-related lots.
