While the Marilyn Remembered fan club hosted a service commemorating the 60th anniversary of her passing on August 5 at Westwood Memorial Park, at the TCL Chinese Theatre on Hollywood Boulevard, Oscar-winning actor and dancer George Chakiris dedicated an auditorium as the Marilyn Monroe Theatre. An exhibition of Marilyn’s movie costumes and props from the collections of Greg Schreiner and Scott Fortner is currently on display in the foyer (photos by Lorraine Nicol.)

Also on Hollywood Boulevard, the Larry Edmunds Bookshop unveiled a showcase for all things Marilyn.

In New York, Madame Tussaud’s paired with the Lexington Hotel in a nod to Marilyn’s ‘subway scene’ from The Seven Year Itch.

Meanwhile, fans across the globe paid homage to “the greatest star” on social media.

The Shaw Family Archives posted classic images of Marilyn to Instagram, accompanied by Sam’s thoughts on his dear friend.

Andrea Bulgarelli, Olivier Coulon and David Downton all shared portraits of Marilyn.

Volker Feyerabend created a series of animations, reimagining Marilyn’s ‘Happy Birthday Mr President’ performance, and her ‘mermaid dress’ worn at the 1962 Golden Globes.

The iconic singer Nancy Sinatra, who met Marilyn in her father’s house as a child, paid a warm tribute.

And finally, Marilyn was fondly remembered this weekend by numerous writers and artists online.
