Marilyn Covers Italy’s ‘Grand Hotel’

As Sam Shaw’s photos of Marilyn go on display in Turin (see here), this gorgeous image graced the cover of the Italian weekly Grand Hotel (#32, dated August 5.) Unfortunately, the article inside appears to be more rehashed gossip about Marilyn and the Kennedys, but for collectors, this issue is now available in the UK (order here.)

Grand Hotel was founded in 1946, and throughout the 1950s, Marilyn inspired its cover art by illustrator Walter Molino, as well as comic strips for the magazine’s romance stories. Some of his Grand Hotel artwork also appeared in the French publication, Nous Deux (‘We Two’), and he also created striking news-related images for another Italian weekly, La Domenica del Corriere.
