1952 was a turning point in Marilyn’s career. After years of pin-ups and B-movies, she had survived the ‘scandal’ of a nude calendar, graced the cover of LIFE, and was dating baseball legend Joe DiMaggio. On August 3, musician Ray Anthony threw a party in her honour at his Sherman Oaks mansion, where he performed his latest single, ‘My Marilyn.’
