Everyone’s favourite millennial socialite, Paris Hilton has never made a secret of her fascination with Marilyn. “There’s nobody like me,” she told E! Online in 2009. “I think every decade has an iconic blonde, like Marilyn Monroe or Princess Diana and, right now, I’m that icon.” Thirteen years later, Paris pays homage to her idol in a photo spread for the February 2023 issue of Vogue Arabia (shot by Abdull Artuev, and styled by Amine Jreissati.)

The hotel setting of this layout – in which, clad in a white bathrobe with a necklace and a dab of her new fragrance, Ruby Rush, Paris makes a phonecall – echo classic images of Marilyn by Ed Feingersh (see above), with other photos possibly referencing one of her last sittings with George Barris (below).
And finally, the fabulous platinum blonde wig sported by Paris resembles the coiffed hairdo styled by Kenneth Battelle for Marilyn’s ‘Happy Birthday Mr President’ performance at Madison Square Garden in 1962. (However – unlike a certain reality TV star, formerly her assistant – Paris had the good grace not to wear Marilyn’s original costume on the red carpet.)
