A new compilation, The Very Best of Marilyn Monroe, has been released on vinyl by the WaxTime label, which also reissued Alex North’s soundtrack for The Misfits in 2021. Among the 19 tracks are numbers from Ladies of the Chorus, Niagara, Gentlemen Prefer Blondes, River of No Return, There’s No Business Like Show Business, Some Like It Hot, and Let’s Make Love, closing out with ‘Happy Birthday Mr. President.’
A glorious colour image from Marilyn’s 1952 photo shoot with Gene Kornman – which later influenced pop artist Andy Warhol – adorns the front cover, while Marilyn wears her famous gold lamé dress on the reverse.
