Elliott Erwitt Brings Marilyn to the Musée Maillol

Marilyn is featured in a new retrospective for French-born photographer Elliott Erwitt at the Musée Maillol in Paris until August 15th. Erwitt captured Marilyn six years apart, on location for The Seven Year Itch in 1954 and The Misfits in 1960.

“Elliott Erwitt is a painter of the intimate, photojournalist, advertising photographer, director and portraitist of personalities such as Marilyn Monroe or Jackie Kennedy, Charles de Gaulle, Ernesto ‘Che’ Guevara, Alfred Hitchcock , Nikita Khrushchev…

The exhibition reflects the diversity of the subjects covered and the profound unity of the work. He has a way of immortalising moments of daily life with a look that belongs only to him, mixing humour and emotion.

Through an exceptional scenography, you will discover the unique sensitivity of the photographer, especially in his colour shots.”

“In fact, to say there is humanity in my photos is the greatest compliment anyone has ever paid me.” – Elliott Erwitt
