Marilyn graces the latest cover of The London Standard (dated December 12), illustrating a feature on the city’s best restaurants of 2024. This weekly magazine is the latest iteration of The Standard, or Evening Standard, London’s leading daily newspaper for almost 200 years. In these troubled times for print media, The London Standard is currently available from newsagents across the city on a trial basis.
This photo was originally taken by Murray Garrett at the Photoplay Awards in March 1953 when Marilyn was named the Fastest Rising Star of 1952. She wore her iconic gold lamé dress designed by Travilla for Gentlemen Prefer Blondes to the ceremony at the Beverly Hills Hotel, and was criticised by veteran star Joan Crawford for her revealing attire.
