All About Eve is showing at BFI Southbank in London on Saturday, May 2, at 11:50 am. Repeat screenings are set for May 12 and 21, as part of a month-long series, ‘Lights, Camera, Acting!‘
“Joseph L. Mankiewicz’s razor-sharp classic centres on Broadway star Margo Channing, whose career and inner circle are destabilised by the arrival of Eve Harrington, a seemingly devoted admirer with ruthless ambition. As loyalty gives way to manipulation, the film dissects power, performance and aging in a world where admiration is a weapon and success is never secure. With its razor-sharp dialogue, featuring more than a few classic lines, All About Eve is one of Hollywood’s most witty and withering portraits of stardom, celebrity and unfettered ambition.”
