A week-long Marilyn movie marathon begins at Estação Gavea in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil on Wednesday, May 27.
“On June 1st, 2026, Marilyn Monroe would have turned one hundred years old. But only 36 of those 100 years of Norma Jeane Mortenson’s life were lived by Marilyn. The remaining 64 were irrefutable proof of the brilliance of one of the greatest stars in Hollywood history – a star who refused to be erased by time.
Even with less than 20 years in the business, Marilyn Monroe forever marked not only cinema, but also culture and the world, and her legacy continues in the retrospective ‘The More Marilyn the Better’.
From May 27th to June 3rd , Estação Gávea will showcase 14 of the actress’s feature films, from some with minor roles to others that would have been impossible without her unforgettable presence.”

Elsewhere in Brazil, Marilyn Monroe: Lost Shots – an exhibition accompanying the new book by Allan Grant, who photographed her final LIFE interview in 1962 – is on display at MaPa Photo in São Paulo until June 5.
