And on Tuesday, September 1 at 2:00 pm, a presentation on Marilyn and the ‘Fox Blondes’ is coming to the Jewish Community Centre (JW3) in Finchley, North London.
“20th Century Fox had many blonde musical stars (from the 1930s to the 1960s) including Shirley Temple, Marilyn Monroe and Alice Faye – let’s chart their course with clips from such films as Rebecca of Sunnybrook Farm, Gentlemen Prefer Blondes and Alexander’s Ragtime Band. Presenter George McGhee has over 35 years of experience, latterly at the BBC, where he oversaw all feature films and international TV series acquisitions.”
A screening of Some Like It Hot will follow at 4:00 pm, with tickets available separately. However, Billy Wilder’s 1959 comedy classic was a co-production between pioneering independents the Mirisch Brothers and the film’s distributor, United Artists.
