Marilyn’s Playboys, Storyboards at Heritage Auctions

In addition to upcoming events at Profiles in History and University Archives, several Marilyn-related items will go under the hammer at Heritage Auctions next month, as part of their Entertainment & Music Memorabilia sale on November 14. As well as two first editions of Playboy‘s first issue (always popular) is a more curious listing: a set of 14 original storyboards by artist David Russell for the 1996 TV movie, Norma Jean and Marilyn. Starring Ashley Judd and Mira Sorvino, the film was based on Ted Jordan’s spurious memoir, it is riddled with inaccuracies and is remembered today mostly for its connection to disgraced producer Harvey Weinstein (see here.)

UPDATE: The framed first issue of Playboy sold for $2,250, while an unframed copy sold for $2,750, and the Norma Jean and Marilyn storyboards fetched $229.
