June 21st will mark 100 years since the birth of Jane Russell, Marilyn’s friend, co-star and a Hollywood legend in her own right. A new biography is forthcoming (see here), and Jane is also profiled in the latest issue of UK nostalgia mag Yours Retro (#38, with Humphrey Bogart on the cover.)
The recent CD reissue of the Gentlemen Prefer Blondes soundtrack mini-album features Marilyn and Jane’s three duets, plus ‘Diamonds Are a Girl’s Best Friend’ and Jane’s solo number, ‘Ain’t There Anyone Here for Love?’ The original sleevenotes are also reproduced.
