Home video company Kino Lorber will release Some Like It Hot on Blu-Ray on January 18, 2022. According to HD Report it will be the first 4K UHD restoration. However, this puzzles me a little as the Criterion Collection released a 4K edition in 2019, and the print was also screened theatrically (see here.)
Nonetheless, Kino Lover’s Studio Classics release boasts some enticing add-ons. There’s audio commentary from Paul Diamond, son of director Billy Wilder’s longtime writing partner, I.A.L. Diamond; and Joseph McBride, author of Billy Wilder: Dancing On the Edge (see here.)
A second disc includes behind-the-scenes featurettes, and a discussion between Wilder and German filmmaker Volker Schlöndorff.
