Marilyn features twice in Esquire‘s list of the 125 Best Books About Hollywood: firstly, Eve Arnold’s monograph, and then – perhaps more contentiously – Norman Mailer’s. “Never mind Mailer’s standard metaphysical hooey,” Alex Belth writes, “there’s a lot of smart commentary on Marilyn Monroe’s movies and cultural impact to be had here.”
Marilyn is also mentioned in numerous other books on the list – here’s a select few…
- By Myself by Lauren Bacall
- Conversations With Wilder by Cameron Crowe
- All About All About Eve by Sam Staggs
- An Open Book by John Huston
- A Life by Elia Kazan
- Robert Mitchum: Baby I Don’t Care by Lee Server
- Montgomery Clift by Patricia Bosworth
