Spanish fans are in for a treat with this new, bumper anthology from Cult Books (who previously reissued Maurice Zolotow’s classic Monroe biography in Spanish – see here.) Over 404 pages, About Marilyn Monroe includes writing from Arthur Miller, Yves Montand, Norman Rosten, Elia Kazan, Earl Wilson, Arnold Newman, Stanley Kauffmann, Norman Mailer, Alvah Bessie, Peter Bogdanovich, Anthony Burgess, Michael Korda, Joan Mellen, Jeffrey Meyers, Alexander Walker, and many more – illustrated with black-and-white photos throughout.
The cover image was photographed by Philippe Halsman in 1954, while Marilyn was on a break from filming The Seven Year Itch in New York. Eagle-eyed fans may notice the photo has been flipped – Marilyn’s beauty mark is on the wrong side. (Although rarely seen today, Halsman’s shot made the cover of Italy’s EPOCA magazine in July 1955 – which is where the error originated.)
