With the 60th anniversary of Marilyn’s death less than a week away, the media blitz continues in France. In addition to her recent Vanity Fair and Télécâble Sat covers, she is featured in three more magazines now on newsstands.
‘Marilyn: Universal Icon‘ is the first instalment in ‘Their Last Days,’a summer series about celebrity deaths for Paris Match (#3821.) Spread over eight pages, the article features a good selection of photos – but the accompanying text by novelist Simon Liberati is rather trashy.
A 2-page feature, ‘Marilyn: The Pin-Up Laid Bare,’ is published in the latest issue (#2177) of VSD magazine.
Jours de France is another weekly which, like Paris Match, has a long history with Marilyn. The latest issue (#37) includes an 8-page tribute with photos of her past covers, dating back to 1955.
And finally, one you may have missed – a special issue of Ici Paris, released on June 29 and focused on ‘star duels,’ features a 6-page article on the intertwined fates of Marilyn and ‘rival’ blonde bombshell Jayne Mansfield.
