Marilyn’ ‘undone bob’ is currently trending with hair stylists and beauty bloggers, as Glamour reports.
“We have had, and perhaps always will have, an insatiable obsession with the image of Marilyn Monroe, so it’s little surprise that her iconic look is influencing modern-day beauty trends. Indeed, Pinterest has noted that ‘Monroecore’ is trending on the image-sharing site, with 50% more searches for red lipstick and 70% more searches for old-school Hollywood.
And hairdressers are seeing requests for ‘the undone Marilyn bob’ surge as women seek a modern take on the classic bob hairstyle made famous by the Hollywood icon.
‘The key to getting the look is all in the cut,’ explains Moe Harb, cofounder and creative director of Beauty Club London. ‘Ask your stylist for a chin-length bob with slightly longer layers in the front. The length should be just long enough to curl under or pin back with a cute clip.’
To style the look – and give it that modern, undone finish, Moe suggests starting with clean, dry hair. ‘If you have natural waves, simply apply a small amount of texturising spray and let your hair air dry,’ she suggests. If you’ve got straight hair, she recommends using a large barrel curling iron to curl the ends under and finishing with a light mist of hairspray and you’re good to go.
Moe says the best thing about the Marilyn bob is that it’s flattering on all face shapes and can be styled in a variety of ways, adding: ‘Whether you wear it curled or straight, pinned back or down, this versatile haircut is a suits-all style.'”
