The black beaded dress worn by Marilyn for her ‘I’m Through With Love’ number in Some Like It Hot is featured in the May 2024 issue of UK nostalgia mag Yours Retro (#74, with Cary Grant on the cover.)

It’s part of an ongoing series, ‘Screen Chic,’ that has previously featured Marilyn’s ‘diamond dress‘ from Gentlemen Prefer Blondes, and her ‘subway dress‘ from The Seven Year Itch.
However, designer Orry Kelly – who won an Academy Award for Some Like It Hot – would say of Marilyn: ‘I would rather go to Coney Island and open a hot dog stand than dress that woman again!’

This month also marks two years since the record-breaking sale of Andy Warhol’s ‘Shot Sage Blue Marilyn‘ at Christie’s in New York.

And a new biography of Marilyn’s Niagara co-star, Jean Peters, is Book of the Month for May. Author Michelangelo Capua’s prior subjects include Jean Negulesco, director of How to Marry a Millionaire.

Finally, Marilyn’s ‘odd couple’ romance with Arthur Miller will be explored in the June 2024 issue of Yours Retro.
