Marilyn’s Cinema Paradiso Duo in Austria

Clash By Night is showing at Cinema Paradiso in Baden, Austria on Wednesday, June 17, at 7:30 pm; and at its sister venue in St. Pölten on July 5 at 8pm.

“Marilyn Monroe in a supporting role, so powerful that a film noir struggles to maintain its dark tone. As Peggy, a factory worker in a fish processing plant, Monroe hints at her potential to become a Hollywood star. Director Fritz Lang insisted on filming a long scene in one continuous take, requiring 19 takes. In one scene, Peggy gets drunk on champagne, a tragic premonition of Marilyn Monroe’s later addiction problems. The film’s lines have become legendary.”

And River of No Return is coming to Baden on July 5 at 12pm; and St. Pölten on July 13 at 8:15 pm.

“In Otto Preminger’s classic Western, saloon singer Kay Weston (Marilyn Monroe) transforms into a farmer’s wife. Along the way, the film features saloon performances, Robert Mitchum, muggings, robberies, battles with bandits, a perilous raft trip, and a fatal shooting in self-defence. Highlights include Monroe’s saloon singing and her incomparable performance on the prairie with her guitar.”
