Covering New York Fashion Week’s ready-to-wear collections for Fall 2022, Vogue has noted at least two designers inspired by Marilyn. Firstly, Naeem Khan drew upon the glamour of Norman Norell’s mermaid dresses, while Michael Kors‘ clutch coats hark back to Marilyn’s favourite camel coats (and these also inspired Max Mara in 2015.)

Marilyn’s style influence was also cited by Vogue in January, with Andreas Kronthaler channeling her vintage Hollywood glamour in a bridal gown for Vivienne Westwood‘s Summer 2022 runway collection, which reminded me of this fishtail gown designed by Travilla for the closing number of There’s No Business Like Show Business.
Another Westwood design reminded me of the white dress Marilyn wore for her 1952 LIFE cover session with Philippe Halsman, as well as the gown she wore to marry Arthur Miller in 1956 (see here.)
