Lisa Eldridge Makes Up With Marilyn

Marilyn Monroe x Lisa Eldridge is a new collection from the New Zealand-born, England-based makeup artist, in partnership with Authentic Brands Group (ABG), the owners of Marilyn’s estate.

“I analysed the makeup shades in my vintage makeup collection we know she wore and loved, working with eminent pigment historians, as well as dissecting every interview and magazine article… I went the extra mile to make sure I accurately captured this colourful moment in time.

The result is a collection that you can make your own. One with fresh eyes and modern formulas, that is instinctively Marilyn. Her colours, her taste, her joie de vivre.”

Lisa chose Sam Shaw’s images of a newlywed Marilyn enjoying the summer of 1957 in Amagansett, New York for the campaign.

“These images are my favourite of Marilyn – in a summer out of the public eye, where she’s pictured relaxed and happy, away from scrutiny and the Hollywood red carpet. I was struck by the sense of ease reflected in her beauty story: pared back, yet unmistakably herself. Her famous blonde hair blowing loose in the wind. Her makeup is signature Marilyn but a softer, more undone version.”

ELEVATED GLOW (£27): A hot poured highlighter inspired and named after the classic Hollywood ‘butterfly lighting’ technique – also available in warm bronze.

ROUGE EXPERIENCE (£49): A crème lipstick available in shades including ‘Norma Jeane,’ inspired by a red-orange lipstick from Marilyn’s own collection, now owned by Eldridge.

AMAGANSETT (£49): A refillable lipstick inspired by a ‘bold and pretty carnation pink’ also favoured by Marilyn.

STRAWBERRY BLONDE (£21): Velveteen liquid lip colour in various shades; pairs well with Dragon lip pencil in various shades (Marilyn Monroe Edition.)
